I ordered this CD to get a taste of Seychelles music before my upcoming trip to the islands in person. I was pleasantly surprised - I absolutely adore it, and I am eager to discover more! The music has a Caribbean feel but, in my opinion, it surpasses it. The melodies and song structures are both sophisticated and catchy. They will stick in your head after just a few plays. One track is in English, while the rest are in Kreol. The CD's sound quality is excellent, but it lacks liner notes.

When I inquired about the CD, a local from Seychelles mentioned, "I suppose the CD he has is one of Wave's complete collection (which I interpret as 'greatest hits') because Wave was a popular group known for performing in hotels and private functions." I was also informed that the sega dancing performed to this music is a must-see.

During my stay in Seychelles, two girls at one of our hotels kindly translated the titles of this CD for me one evening. They were huge fans of The Waves, whose members have unfortunately disbanded. The translated titles include: Nou Devwar ("Our Work"), Dan Leo ("In the Heights", referring to living in the highlands rather than the city), Fanta (inspired by the soda brand), Sa Ki Nou Ete ("Who We Are"), Kote Ou Ete ("Where Are You?"), Anba Langar ("Under the Shelter", a popular hangout spot), Lavi Rezete ("Rejected Life", a song about a girl rejected after getting pregnant), Dodo Baba ("Sleep, Baby"), Lot Kote ("Next Door"), Voyaz ("Voyage"), Komplent Paran ("Parent's Complaint"), and Victorya ("Victoria", the capital of Seychelles).
