Cajun Cuisine

Michael Doucet, leader of Beausoleil, curated a collection of Cajun standards and favorites, such as Mon Petit Canon, Newz Reel, Blue Cajun, Mama Rosin, Valse de Grand Bois, Cajun Two-Step, Cousin Lilly, McGee's Reel, Basile Two-Step, Les Veuves, and Mamou Jam, among others. This lively project brings together talented Cajun musicians to create a traditional bayou delight for the ears.

Accompanied by a few members of Beausoleil, including drummer Mike Burch (River Road), Mitchell Reed (Mamou Prairie Band), and guitarist Christina Balfa (Balfa Toujours), the group ventured to Dockside Studios near Lafayette, Louisiana to blend their musical talents and create some spicy magic. The end result is a homely compilation of classic Cajun tunes, waltzes, and original pieces by Doucet that will enchant both country music fans and Cajun enthusiasts alike.

The violins serenade, the accordions whirl, and the guitars strum melodiously, creating a musical experience as satisfying as a hearty bowl of jambalaya. --Karen Karleski
